Master of Science Application

Criteria

 

For English proficiency IELTS exam is not accepted in Türkiye. If you take TOEFL in Türkiye, the result is only accepted if you take the exam in a state university. Please make sure that you have an valid English exam result or your application is automatically declined.

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria

DEGREE METU EPE ALES (sayısal) BSc CGPA MSc CGPA

  1. ALES score type has to be quantitative
  2. If a candidate takes the TOEFL IBT exam rather than the METU EPE in Turkey, it should only be held in buildings belonging to the state university. According to the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) Directive on Determining the Equivalence of Foreign Language Exams, Application Article - 6 (3)
  3. Pre-evaluation:
    Candidates who will be invited to the interview are determined according to their ranking with respect to their % 50% ALES + % 50% CGPA scores and the number of graduate students that the faculty members can supervise.
  4. Final Evaluation Score:
    50% (ALES) + 25% (CGPA) + 25% (Interview and Scientific Evaluation)
  5. Turkish Citizens' applications are evaluated according to the ALES exam score. GRE scores of applicants with only a GRE score are converted to an ALES score.
  6. Two (2) reference letters and a letter of intention are required.
  7. All announcements and communications regarding the application, including interview dates, are sent to the email address provided by the applicant in the application.
  8. Applicants who do not attend the interviews will be rejected. Foreign applicants who do not reside in Turkey at the time of the interview should inform the department vice chair for academic affairs by email immediately after the announcement of the results for further arrangements.
  9. Candidates are advised to contact the faculty members related to the areas in which they plan to write their thesis. Having defined a research program in collaboration with a faculty member will be positively assessed by the committee.

  4. Pre-evaluation:
    Candidates who will be invited to the interview are determined according to their ranking based on their 50% GRE score and 50% CGPA scores, as well as the number of graduate students that the faculty members can supervise. In the case of an exceptional candidate, the Robotic Program Committee may waive the requirement for the GRE; however, the student must take two qualification courses selected by the Committee and pass these courses with a grade of BB (3/4) or higher. These courses will be considered as part of the coursework that student must take during their studies. If a student cannot pass the courses with a grade of BB or above, they will be dismissed from the program. Alternatively, the Committee could also ask students to provide a GRE result by the end of the first semester.
